While We Are On The Subject of Power Rangers

I apologize for not doing a new blog for awhile.  It's been super busy here lately.

Anyway, I was just reminded why I didn't like Jason David Frank, Tommy, on power rangers.  I just listened to an interview that he did on No Pink Spandex, and does that boy not know when to shut up!  I'm sorry but  talking bad about Austin St. John every chance you get is really pathetic. The Power Rangers Debuted in 1993 and this particular interview was in 2010, I think it's time to move on Jason David Frank.  He spent close to 30 minutes talking horribly about ASJ, I'm at a lost of words.  Then again I don't believe much Jason David Frank says anymore. He claims to have invented the hand moves of the Turbo morph, but they used an almost identical one in Carranger (激走戦隊カーレンジャー)  I think I remember one time when he said that they didn't use any Japanese stock footage of the green ranger, because the green ranger dies.  WRONG!  I've seen all of Zyuranger and I can guarantee you that they used stock footage.

I'm sorry I know this isn't what I normally post about, but that really got under my skin this morning.

NEXT POST:  a board game that my cousin always cheated in.  Do you need a clue?

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie

I have very mixed feelings about this movie, and did since I was small.  I watched it in the movie theatre and bought it at K-mart the day it came out on VHS.  I know that I have touched this movie a little bit before.

Even though Jason, Trini, and Zack weren't in this movie I was still super excited to see it.  I'll start off with the things I didn't like about this movie.  (Please keep in mind that this is my opinion)

1.)  The name of it.  Really they couldn't have gotten any more creative then  Mighty Morphin Power Rangers:  The Movie.

2.)  The costume's. I know that a lot of people liked them.  I thought they looked cheap and to be perfectly honest dumb.  I know Saban had a bigger budget and didn't use stock footage, but still.....

3.)  Zedd and Rita, I'm sorry but I thought that they should've been in it much more.

4.)  The death and then revival of Zordon, I still don't get it.  I understand out of his chamber he can't survive, but how the heck did they bring him back to live!  I know somebody will more than likely enlighten me on this.

5.)  The zords looked horrible, I haven't actually watched this movie in a long time, but once again even as a child I thought they looked really fake and too computerized.

What I did like about this movie.

1.)  The action.

2.)  Dulcea, as I was a young girl at this time it was nice to have a really strong female.

4.)  Adam's one liners.  "I'm a frog."  "Welcome, to Jurassic Park."

5.) I did like the Fred story line also.  It was nice to know what was going on in Angel Grove, while the Rangers were on Phados.

6.)  When the show went back on television they had to basically redo the whole movie to incorporate Kakuranger footage.  Which I don't mind at all because Kakuranger is one of my favorite of the  Super Sentai.

Overall, this wasn't a bad movie.  It was cheesy like the television show, but with a bigger budget and didn't use had Japanese stock footage. I might watch it again after typing this.

MMPR VHS

I went downstairs at my mom's house to see if I could find anything from my childhood.  Unfortunately, most of my stuff is long gone.  I did find some of my old Power Ranger tapes.  I used to have a ton of them and both movies, so I don't know where the rest are at.  If you were like me though, you probably spent countless hours watching the guys put evil in its place.

The stroke of midnight...

It's already almost 2011!!!  Seriously where did the year go?  Do you remember the first time you were able to stay up until midnight on New Years eve?

I sure do remember mine, lol.  My dad and I went to BlockBuster to rent some movies.  I, of course, rented Alpha's Magical Christmas.  I also owned one other Power Ranger VHS at that time, and from 6pm- midnight I watched the two video's back to back.

Once it finally reached midnight, I was ecstatic  I was the only person in our house that was awake.  Then I made it a point to use the bathroom.  Just so I could say that I was the first to use the toilet of the new year.  Boy, was I a strange kid.  LOL!

I hope everybody welcomes 2011 safely.  Happy New Years!!

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

As a child I was a total  "Ranger Head."  I had the trading cards, t-shirts, and dolls.  I absolutely loved everything about the series, even the bad guys.   I vividly remember when Tommy became the White Ranger and took over leadership from Jason, the Red Ranger.  I was fuming mad and was yelling at Zordon through the television set.  (Now that I'm thinking about it maybe that's why my parents had me watch Power Rangers in the basement.)  Back on topic,  I never liked Tommy after he lost the Green Ranger Powers.  It sort've became "The Tommy Show."

Another thing that really upset me was when Jason, Trini, and Zack left.  The reason they left was because they were going to a teen peace conference  in Switzerland!   WTF!!!   Even at the tender 10, I knew something was up when three new guys showed up wearing red, yellow, and black.  I had a bad feeling, but I was in such denial because Jason, Trini, and Zack were without a doubt my absolute favorites.  When they finally left I cried SO HARD!  I'm not kidding,  I think that was the first time I went into a depression like stated.  I vowed right then and there to never again watch another episode.  I tried my best not to, but every once in a while my curiosity got the best of me and I would watch it.  I also watched both movies in the theatre.  I recently downloaded a few of the original episodes.  I still believe that the chemistry of the original 5 can't be topped!

Plus, the theme song was rockin!
