Upcoming Halloween

Hey, I know that it has been a very long time since I've posted.  Life has kept me very busy!  It is already October 19, which means that it is almost Halloween.  It used to be one of my favorite celebrations as a kid, mainly because it just meant that you could ran around all over town and get high off of sugar.  Honestly, what kid wouldn't love that.  I'm going to write a more in depth post about this soon.

What are some of your favorite memories of Halloween?

More thoughts of Hey Dude: Season 1

After my initial excitement of actually getting to watch this series again, I put it away and haven't really watched it again until recently.  The nostalgia of it is still makes my heart patter, but now I'm watching it without my rose colored glasses.

I can say that at the time that this originally aired there really wasn't anything else like it on the air.  A bunch of kids working a summer job on a dude ranch, mind you they literally spent the whole summer at the Bar None Ranch away from their families.  Yes, by today's standards the acting is horrible and cheesy.  You would think that working on a Dude Ranch, there would be a lot of excitement and action.  Most everything was toned down, possibly because they didn't want the actors getting hurt?

Most of season 1 featured Brad and Ted arguing and tension between the sexes.  One episode even featured a boys vs girls competition.  They were on a DUDE RANCH, and the coolest thing we get it an obvious calm horse, trying to act wild while Brad calms him down to ride.  On the note of Brad, I have never heard of a girl named Bradley.

I don't think that this show would stand a chance by today's standards, but by 1989's it was alright.

SIDE NOTE:  I'm thinking of getting season 2.

baseball cards

If you were a kid in the '90's you probably had a collection of baseball cards.  In my collection, I have a variety of sports cards.Where I lived a pack was only 25 cents, and it included a stick of  gum.  I always ate the gum even though it was like chewing rocks, lol.

I still have a book full of cards, somewhere.  My question is... What do you do with them?  Did you throw them out?  Are you still collecting?  Did you hand them down to somebody?  Did you sell them?

I'm at a loss of what to do with mine.  Leave me a comment below.

A whole year older!

Well, I'm older now then I was  the last time that I have posted.  I had a great birthday, thanks everyone!

Do you guys have any birthday traditions?  I only had to birthday parties growing up, one was when I was in 2nd grade and the other was when I was in 5th grade.  The one I had in 5th grade was pretty awesome, we had a half day of school and we had a field trip to the circus.  Heck yes!!!  I had 4 or 5 friends over and we stayed up all night, played power rangers, circus, and poker.  We did have one kid who fell asleep, so we tortured her by putting bumble balls, remember those?, in her sleeping bag.  I don't think I have any pics of the actual party though.  Dang, times before cell phones, digital cameras/ camcorders.

We put 2 bumble balls in her sleeping bag, one lesson she learned is that if the birthday girl and everybody else is staying up all night long, then so are you!!  They might look soft, but they were hard and hurt if they bumped you wrong.  Man, I was evil!!!!

I found a YouTube video of what a bumble ball is, just in case somebody forgot/ doesn't remember.

zoo!

We went to the zoo for my birthday yesterday.  It was fun and I got sun burnt, ouch!  This zoo lets you pet and feed the animals.  I got a ton of pics and  video, but I haven't had time to edit everything out yet.  We fed lemurs, giraffes, birds, and rode on a camel. We also saw a ton of other animals and ate ice cream.  It was a lot of fun!

This camel is named Charlie, we couldn't convince him to go to Candy Mountain.

The lemur's love cranberry's.  (My sister is feeding this one.)

Batman

When I think of Batman, I think of Michael Keaton.  When I think of Joker, I think Jack Nicholson.  My sister and I loved 1989's movie simply named "Batman."  It was one of the very few movies that we actually wore out.  We even brought the movie to our babysitters house to watch with our friends. (Nowadays babysitters probably wouldn't let you get away with watching or bringing that)

I have watched the newer version, The Dark Knight, and I liked it okay.  I just like this movie better, it might be because this movie was part of my childhood.  I liked how crazy the Joker was.  He drove damsel Vicki Vale, absolutely crazy.  Vicki Vale was Bruce Wayne's love interest in this movie.  She was a photographer for the local newspaper.  She was an alright character, she wasn't really that strong of a woman.  She screamed a lot in this movie, I'm not kidding.  My dad even warned the babysitter that she screamed a lot, lol.

Michael Keaton, to me, was an amazing Batman.  He was very mysterious, quiet, and stayed in the shadows. Isn't that how Bruce Wayne and Batman are supposed to be?

Jack Nicholson's Joker was a wild card.  He took over the city putting poison is hygiene items.  He took over Gotham City's parade.  He promised to give away money, so of course, pretty much the whole city's population showed up.  He ended up releasing gas and to make matters worse, the money he was giving away was "Joker Bucks".   He also had a sidekick named Bob, he didn't say much, but I'm always a little sad when the Joker shoots him :(

I also really loved the soundtrack.  Danny Elfman did an amazing job!  I used to be obsessed with Lego Batman, I was pleasantly surprised that they used most of the music from the soundtrack of this movie.  On a side note:  A GameStop employee told me that they were coming out with Lego Batman 2.

I for got to mention, they looked awesome!!!  I also liked the movies version of the Batmobile, its very sleek.  The new Bat tumbler, or whatever it's called is also pretty badass.
