Happy Thanksgiving!!

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile.  I've been super busy at work and trying to figure out my new Nintendo 3ds, lol.

I hope everybody had a fun and joyous Thanksgiving.  My cousins came down and we spent the day chatting, playing with the wii, and eating!  What did you do?

I think my next entry will be about the gameboy again.

rain and earthquakes

We're having horrible weather here.  It's so boring!!!  It makes me think about a time my sister, our hamster, and I were home alone when the tornado sirens went off.

So I was probably about 12 and my sister would've been 9.  We just watched on episode of "Roseanne" where they had a tornado go through and destroy their town.  My sis and I were downstairs doing out make believe talk show, when all of the sudden the a huge thunder/ wind storm started came to town.   Oh ,no!   Have no fear, we know what to do.

So we went upstairs grabbed the essentials, our hamster, helmets, safety pads, a jump rope, a baby gate, soda, and chips.  (our toy rooms were downstairs)  We got the hamster and put her cage under the coffee table.  We put on our helmets and pads and ventured into the play rooms.  Our mission was to try to find anything that we could use to barricade the stair way.  I'm thinking we used the baby gate, our barbie house, and some dining room table chairs.  We snacked and watched TV underneath the coffee table.

Then after maybe an hour or so our dad came home from work.  He was wondering what we were doing.  Apparently we were in the all clear and weren't in any danger.  He just laughed and walked off.
My sister and I did a TON of crazy stuff that summer.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

My sister LOVED the Ninja Turtles and I liked them okay enough.  Anyways,  this was another big part of my childhood.  I haven't watched the show in ages, so this might be a little rough, lol.

The story starts with four baby turtles being brought home in a fish bowl.  Then suddenly the boy trips and he drops the turtles.  They down into the sewer and land on some green, glowing snot looking stuff.  I'm guessing that there was a rat down there also, because Master Splinter was down in that same sewer too.  uhhh....... then they become the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  Master Splinter being the genius that he is named his four "sons" after artist. (I'm taking this straight from the theme song)  Leonardo leads, Donatello does machines, Raphael is cool but cruel, Michelangelo is a party dude, and Master Splinter is a radical rat.

Now lets talk a little about the villains.  We have Shredder, he was the main villain.  He looked like a cross between the Tin Man and a cheese grater. He was EVIL!!! But luckily for the Turtles his plans never quite worked out as he would plan.  Then there is Krank.  He was a gigantic brain, who lived in a robotic human.  He was smart and usually the brain behind the operation, but at the same time he could be so stupid.  The two henchmen were BeeBop and Rocksteady they were just bumbling idiots, just think Bulk and Skull if you're a Power Ranger fan.

I really don't remember any episodes clearly.  My sister had a lot of TMNT stuff, even for her birthday one year she got a Donatello costume.  She let me be Master Splinter.

Oh yeah! We kicked some make believe ASS!!!

more photos from the lake

I just took these pictures a week or so ago.  Again, see how beautiful and fun it would've been to run around and play "hide and go seek" there.

The Lake

I grew up in a small town where the Little Arkansas cut through.  My dad used to take us fishing there all the time.  I liked it because of the waterfall and the swinging bridge.  This particular lake/ park that I'm talking about was featured in the motion picture "The Picnic" starring Kim Novak.  There wasn't any playground equipment or anything, but we had fun making up games and running around.  Down below are some pictures of the lake.

Hey Dude! Season 1 DVD review

Alright, I finally got a chance to watch most of this DVD pack.  This is a two disc set, that includes all 18 episodes of the first season, and as a bonus feature a recent interview with Christine Taylor.   The actual packaging in itself is actually very nice and sturdy.

The reason I purchased this DVD pack was because, I vaguely remember this show from my childhood.  It came out when I was 6 and went off the air when I was 8.  Plus, I used my swagbucks to buy it.  I figured if I didn't like it I really wasn't out much.  Luckily, I still liked it alot.  Yeah, it's very corny and has a lot of slap stick comedy.  I think one of the reasons I liked it so much as a child and now is that the girls, Brad, Melody, and Lucy, are strong female characters.  They weren't dumbed down and looked to the guys for help.

"Hey Dude" takes place at the Bar None Ranch in Arizona.  Mr. Ernst is from the city and bought the ranch without really knowing what it takes to run the place.  The show follows 5 kids and their "adventures" working on the ranch.  Ted, is a senior staff member and gets in the most trouble, Melody is a lifeguard, Brad is a horse trainer, Danny works the grounds and gives lectures, Lucy the ranch hand, and Buddy Mr. Ernst's son.

This show was made back when Nickelodeon was simple.  I can tell now by watching it that it didn't have a huge budget.  But they still made it work.  This is my own personal opinion, but I think that shows and movies rely to much on special effects and crazy stunts to cover for horrible acting and story telling.
I would recommend this DVD if you remember this show or like classic shows.  It's available on আমাজোন.

Oh, and it does have a very catchy theme song as well :)

New DVD

I don't know how long this DVD has been out, but I just ordered "Hey Dude!" the first season.   I remember watching this show as a young child.  I don't remember much about it,besides the incredibly catchy theme song.  Oh, and Christine Taylor.  When I hear her name on TV or see her online, I can only think of Melody Hanson.  lol

I digress, this DVD should arrive this week.  Then I'll do a review.
Do any of you remember this show?  If so, what were your thoughts?
