The Mighty Ducks (part 1)

The Mighty Ducks, was a absolute favorite movie of mine when I was younger.  I actually owned all 3 of the movies on VHS.  I haven't gotten them on DVD yet, which I might do in the future.

In the 90's there were a bunch of movies about young kids, usually around 11 or 12 years old, who were misfits in the sports world.  They are the underdog who just got even score a single point, then magically by the end of the movie they are the district champions. This movie is no exception.  I'm going to stick with the first Mighty Ducks movie, since I just seen it on tv.  (The other two movies in the trilogy pretty much follow the same formula.)

This movie starts out with a big time lawyer, Gordon Bombay, who got arrested for a DUI and was sentenced to community service.  He was forced to coach District 5 pee wee hockey  team, who was the worst team of the league.  He arrives at the lake that the kids are practicing at, some of the kids are more annoying than others.  None of them really have any real talent, heck the goalie Goldberg is afraid of the dang puck!  Except for Charlie who has a teaspoon of talent at the beginning of this movie.

The kids aren't really sure what to think of their new coach, since all of their others coaches quit.  They start calling him out.  To earn their trust and respect coach Bombay takes them for a ride in his limo on the frozen lake.  Charlie's mom, later to be Bombay's love interest, shows up P.O.ed.  For some reason she didn't like her son being driven around on his, that could possibly break and drown the kids.  (Those last couple of sentences where dripping with sarcasm, for those of you who couldn't tell)

On to the teams first game with Bombay as their coach.  It is against the champions of the league, The Hawks.  Flash back sequence:  Bombay was a little kid playing pee wee hockey as the star of the Hawks team.  Holy coincidence Batman!

Movies

Hello,

I was thinking about this a couple of weeks back.  Do you have any movies that you absolutely loved when you were younger, but when you watched them in recent times you realized how horrible they are?   Or has the opposite happened, and you still love them as much now as you did as a child?
